September 30, 2009 - Counterterrorism Detention:
In June of this year, a group of thirty-two legal professionals, scholars, and practitioners in the field of national security law gathered for a day-long workshop titled Exploring Counterterrorism Detention Alternatives. The workshop explored current U.S. detention powers under the criminal and military models and considered potential alternative models for the administrative detention of future terrorist suspects. September 15, 2009 - Cybersecurity:
The American Bar Association Standing Committee on Law and National Security (SCOLNS) in partnership with the National Strategy Forum released an important conference report,
"National Security Threats in Cyberspace."
July 23, 2009 - Trying Terrorists:
On July 23, the American Bar Association (ABA) released a report on the specific principals to be considered for the detention and trial of terrorist detainees. The report is entitled,
"Trying Terrorists in Article III Courts."
June 15, 2009 - Piracy: The National Strategy Forum and
Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), in cooperation with the
American Bar Association Standing Committee on Law and National Security, conducted a workshop Washington, D.C.,
"Contemporary Piracy: Consequences and Resolution."
The workshop was underwritten by the
McCormick Foundation. An article will be featured in the fall issue of the NSF
